2012.07 BBQ at Cochituate State Park

On July 29, 2012, a fun summer BBQ outing took place at Cochituate State Park which was jointly organized by Boston Nankai Alumni Association and SJTU Alumni Association of Greater Boston Area. Though the BBQ was scheduled on Saturday at first, due to the change of weather, later it was settled on Sunday, rain or shine. Obviously, a BBQ party next to the beach, hanging out in the woods, have great attraction for people. More than forty people of all ages came to the event.

It was cloudy, not too hot and actually very suitable for BBQ. Most people came to the park at ten, some of them came earlier and already set up grills and picnic tables. The event was well organized by two alumni associations: Nankai was mainly in charge of purchasing food including a variety of meat, fruits and vegetables and SJTU was primarily responsible for pre-organizing, accounting and purchasing other goods such as folks, plates and paper. People who may or may not belong to the associations and who may or may not know each other before, quickly got along with each other very well through this event and there were nothing more than the smell of grilled beef, ribs, lamb, shrimps and corns that could connect each other! The breeze and a little rain also gave everyone a great appetite!

The event not only provided plenty of food but an opportunity to relax and hang out as well. After finishing almost all the ‘heavy’ food, some people went kayaking and canoeing and some people sat down and started playing card games, during which the BBQ was still on and off and additonally, fruits, like water melons and cherries, were also served.

The BBQ outing was so much fun and everyone had a great time! Here we want to thank everyone who put effort in this event and look forward to our next outing!
